The finish line is in view.  Two and half months are all that is between walking across that stage, grabbing the diploma, and strutting on out to a life as a real print journalist.  But, as these final days draw near, I find that I’m anxiously reflecting on all that I have studied.  Have I had enough journalism experience?  Do I understand AP style?  Can I really operate InDesign?  Photoshop?  And then put everything on the web? Seriously, this is scary stuff and it all boils down to “Will they hire me?”

Let’s face it.  We’ve all asked these kinds of questions.  But, what if as a journalism major, you could take everything you’ve learned and put it into practice before the real-world newsroom?

This blog will take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of a senior print journalism class at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. that does just that.  A team of eleven students started this semester with a blank screen.  Together they will create something from nothing.  Join us on this journey as we put together an entire magazine in 12 weeks.
